If you are aged 14-18 years and have had access to appointment booking and repeat prescription requests online prior to 31st March 2015, you will need to reapply for online access due to changes in information governance.
Please speak to the Receptionist team about reapplying for online access. You will need to provide documents for proof of identity which include photographic I.D, i.e. a passport or driving liscence AND proof of your address, i.e a bank statement, unfortunately we cannot accept a utility bill for proof of address. If you do not have these documents, please speak to the Reception team about how you can provide proof of identification.
Usual Doctor Policy
The Wooda Surgery believes that health care is best delivered by having one GP responsible for an individual patient’s care. We call this the Usual Doctor system and every patient registered with the Wooda Surgery has a Usual/Named Doctor. It will not always be possible for a patient to speak to the Usual Doctor but the next available appointment with the Usual Doctor is the first option to consider when requesting an appointment.

If your problem is an emergency that cannot wait for the next time your usual Doctor is in the surgery, the Doctors take turns to act as Emergency Care Doctor. Bear in mind that if your Doctor is the Emergency Care Doctor that morning or afternoon, they will be unable to take routine calls.
We apologise but the Emergency Care Doctor does not give out routine (non-urgent) blood and radiology results.
The following information will be valid until July 2017, when Dr Owen will be replaced by Dr Mills who will be writing to his new patients with a formal introduction shortly.
Making An Appointment with your GP
From the 3.1.17 we will be introducing a brand new appointment booking system.
We have heard how difficult it has been to get an appointment with the Doctor.
People get the best care and the most satisfaction from speaking to their Usual Doctor.
We now offer you a telephone consultation with your usual Doctor on the day you call or when they are next in. If you call is urgent and your Usual Doctor isn’t available, you will be able to speak to the Emergency Care Doctor on the day that you call.
The Receptionists will no longer be able to book face to face appointments without an initial telephone call or without your doctor specifically requesting it in the first instance.
We are able to offer flexibility when we are able to call so this will help people who work and people who only have a short window of opportunity to speak to their GP.
Please ask your usual Doctor or the Reception team if you have any questions.
You can make a telephone appointment by contacting reception on 01237 471071 between 8am and 6pm on weekdays. Telephone appointments can also be booked on-line (see details above). Please request one appointment for each patient. Due to the unpredictability of the GP's workload and variation of problems that patients contact us with each day, we are unable to give specific time slots for our telephone calls. Please be assured that the Doctors will prioritise the urgency of the calls based on the information given to the Receptionist. The Doctors will endeavour to accommodate any specific requests for reasonable time slots where patients have difficulty in making themselves available indefinitely on the day of their request.
In response to a Government initiative, the surgery now offers late evening appointments on a Tuesday & Thursday evening, face to face appointments are available and booked by the GP only. These can be booked up to 4 - 6 weeks in advance. After the main doors are locked at 6.00pm there is an intercom service for all patients with pre-booked appointments to access the surgery.
It would be appreciated if late appointments are reserved for patients who are unable to access the practice during normal working hours. All the doctors take it in turn on a rota system to cover the evening clinics to offer the best service we can to our patients.
Please try to attend appointments at the agreed time. If you are late then it means all patients following you will have their appointments delayed. If you arrive up to 20 minutes late then the clinician may ask you to rearrange your appointment.
When you arrive at the surgery please book in using either the self check in system (following the instructions on the screen) or with the receptionist. The self check in system is designed to stop queues building up at the reception desk. So if you are just checking in for an appointment then please give it a try.
We are continually monitoring and updating our appointment system in order to be able to deliver health care efficiently. Please take time to read any notices in the waiting room and on your repeat medication slip
You may also book your telephone appointment on the internet. Please feel free to see the receptionist to get your individual log on details. Alternatively give us a call and we can send the details out in the post. This is an effective way to book appointments and order prescriptions if you have the internet and also helps the surgery by freeing up the phone line for our patients.
Emergency Care Clinic
The Emergency care clinic is available for patients who have an urgent clinical need and their usual Doctor is not available that day.
All of the doctors here at the surgery participate in the rota for the Emergency Care Clinic.
